Joe opened Hurley & Company CPAs PLLC in January 2008. In 2014 the firm merged with Mike Jones, a longtime Elizabethtown CPA, to form Jones & Hurley CPAs PLLC. After the retirement of Mike Jones the firm changed its name to Hurley & Medley CPAs PLLC in 2020. Joe has attended and graduated from both Elizabethtown High School and the University of Kentucky. Joe holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Accounting and a Minor in Economics. Joe also served in and received a Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. Joe is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants (KYCPA). Joe has over 20 years experience in both Private and Public Accounting. Joe resides in Elizabethtown with his wife Tiffany, six children: Jaclyn, Joslyn, Joey, Jillyn, Ellie Kate, Fitz and the family dog Caesar.

Heather is a graduate of Nelson County High School in Bardstown, KY and the University of Kentucky with a BS in accounting. She went on to get her CPA certification and has worked in public accounting for over 20 years in tax return preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and consulting services. She is a member of the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has been working in Elizabethtown for over 13 years. Heather currently resides in Springfield, KY with her husband, Adam and has four children: Collin, Caleb, Seth, and Lainie.

Collin is a financial professional with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and a Certificate in Business Administration from Western Kentucky University. He has experience working in an administrative role and as a Financial Specialist for UPS for three years. In April 2024, he began working for Hurley and Medley CPAs.

Steve is a native of Elizabethtown and a graduate of Sullivan University with a BS in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting. He has more than 15 years of experience in various audit and review engagements, specializing in audits of governmental and nonprofit organizations. Steve resides in Elizabethtown with his wife Jennifer, their two children (Alyssa and Jake), and three dogs (Molly, Ella, and Murphy).

Shellie is a graduate of Central Hardin High School and the University of Louisville with her BS in Nursing. She has recently decided to make a career change and returned to pursue accounting, with the end goal of obtaining her CPA. Shellie is originally from Elizabethtown but has lived all around the country for the last 10 years, as her husband (Mike) was serving active duty in the Army. During this time, she has worked as a RN, volunteered as the Soldier and Family Readiness Leader for her husband’s troop, and taken time off to raise her 3 children (Harbor, Rhett, and Callen). She looks forward to this new chapter and intends to plant roots at Hurley & Medley.

Kurtlyn was born and raised in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, always having a strong connection to community and a passion for helping others. After graduating Central Hardin High School in 2020, she began her academic journey at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College, where she earned an Associate in Science degree. She is currently a senior at Eastern Kentucky University, working toward a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, and plans to sit for the CPA exam after graduating in December! When she is not working or studying, she is most likely on the farm with her indoor pet pig, Ollie, her dog Zoola, and her two horses, Smudge and Matilda. Kurtlyn loves spending time at horse shows, being with friends and family, and diving into any opportunity that lets her problem-solve and lend a helping hand. She is excited to bring that same energy and dedication to serving our clients at Hurley & Medley.
